Rugged ( means as an adjective tough, hardened, unbreakable) and it is the catchphrase found all around this year’s SID’s 2009 spring season show where LG Display Corp. showcased their 15-inch OLED (organic light-emitting diode) TV concept rivaling 2008 premiere of the Sony XE-L1 11 inch OLED TV. It comes in with slightly more viewing area along with a superb image that is created by these amazing organic display panel television’s. - Razor-thin like a creditcard this OLED TV comes in at 0.85mm with a 1366 x 768 resolution at 105 pixels per inch (ppi) and a contrast ratio of 100,000:1, with a refresh frame frquency rate of 120Hz and average luminance of 200 cd / m2 (squared). Built to withstand impacts like the hammer blow demonstrated in the photograph, the 15″ OLED television is composed of an organic display mounted to a substrate of glass however due to such it cannot be made flexible. - The glass and organic panel combo is then mounted onto a steel-reinforcing sheet then a hardened outer resin shell to seal the front viewing area is added so it is resilient to shock. In an LG video we are trying to locate and will eventually post here, there is repeated hits being performed on the OLED panel with no adverse effects. - Looks like what’s new in television technology OLED will not only look fabulous for our viewing pleasure but they will also last for many years with the cool “ruggedized” feature to preserve the integrity of the OLED display. - Sources: Techon Tags: AMOLED, FLEXIBLE OLED, LG OLED, oled smartphones, OLED Television, OLED TV, SAMSUNG SDI, Sony OLED XEL-1, TOUGH OLED |
