GERMANS INTRODUCE OLED STEERING WHEEL CONCEPT

OLED CONCEPT CAR STEERING WHEEL

New applications utilizing OLED technology to premier June 8 - June 10 at the Plastics Electronics Asia 2009 in Taipei, Taiwan, presented by Optrex Europe GmBH the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic MicroSystems (IPMS) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research (IAP) partners with the German OLED researchers, CARO which stands for Car OLED’s, which is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education (BMBF).

The CARO research and development project was teamed up with the styling- studio of G. Pollman (GmBH) to develop superior functioning OLED devices for use within the automotive sector for parts such as organic instrument cluster displays, interior and exterior signage, video displays, organic lighting, etc.

Their design study has developed a very unique concept steering wheel integrating an OLED display within the core of the wheel with multi-function capability.
